I am a 35-years old netizen who started using computers back in 1985 after completing a degree in Nautical Studies. Having worked in the software industry for many years (Apple Computer, Inc. and Netscape Communications Corp. amongst others), I became convinced that humans are much more interesting and thus I am now Associate Lecturer in Information and Communication Technology with the Open University. As well as lecturing, I also work as IT consultant for a successful advertising company and am involved in various educational projects with the goal of helping making the World Wide Web a more interesting and valuable medium for sharing knowledge. A very exciting project I am part of is First Monday, one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed journals on the Internet. I am on its editorial boards and also look after the reviews of interesting books and journals. I tend to write and read quite a large amount of e-mail, as well as following forums on Usenet, maintaining FAQs, writing articles and reviewing technology, scientific and sociology books. Due to the spam that it generated, I had to remove the webmail form. But you can still send me emails at the following new address: pghc@eircom.net |
